Server

 

 Server Settings

Path to Temp-folder:
Location of temporary files.

GZIP Page Compression:
This speeds up your sites pages by compressing the HTML but your web server needs to have GZIP installed in order for it to work.

Error Reporting:
Writes errors to log file the there are four settings.

Locale Settings

 Time Zone: Choose to set your Joomla site time.

FTP Settings

Enable FTP: Used for uploading files file your host does not have the right PHP extensions installed
for web site permissions to make folders and files. A Long story short if you have Apache installed and its using the Nobody account
and it does not have php suexec your going to need this setting as a work around.

FTP Host: URL to your site

FTP Port: port number most of the time its 21.

FTP Username: User to login to server

FTP Password: Password to login to server

FTP Root: Where your files to uploaded to. "/joomla_root/"


Database Settings

Database Type:
Joomla at this time only of this writing only supports Mysql Database server.

Hostname:
Most of the time localhost can be IP address or URL.

Username:
Database login name

Password:
I did not have one in this example but you should.
Password to login to database server.

Database:
Name of the database to login to.

Database Prefix:
Once done via install don't change this unless you know what your doing.

Mail Settings

Mailer:
Your choice of mailer.
PHP mail is the easiest no extra settings needed.
Sendmail the sendmail path needs to be set for this to work.

SMTP:
SMTP is like your desktop mail client uses a SMTP and POP server.
Just enter the account information email a email client like username@yoursite.com Password etc.
 
Mail from:
Email address.

From Name:
From name in the email.

Sendmail Path:
See above mailer text.

SMTP Authentication:
If your email server needs a Authentication set to yes.

SMTP Username:
username@yoursite.com

SMTP Password:
See above mailer text.

SMTP Host:
Server's address etc. smtp.mailserver.com
