As far as I know...
I don't use Mac, but I do use xampp on Windows with DW.
In Remote Settings, you want to set your connection to be local/network. Then the remote folder is just the location on your computer of the files. In windows, it would be in the xampp folder in htdocs. Your mac version must have some documentation on what folder html files go in.
The apache settings are irrelevant in DW... you're just transferring files from your working folder to the "server" folder.
