I have several sites running Joomla 1.13.x and their templates were developed with JTk 2.X and will am looking at doing a few new site with Joomla 1.5.x. I have not used Joomla 1.5 yet so I am needing advise.
I understand that I can use JTk 2 templates in Joomla 1.5 by putting it in legacy mode. What I am wondering is.... 1. What are the advantages of going to using Joomla 1.5 on all new sites I develope? 2. Can I run JTk2 and JTk3 at the same time or not? I am currently using JTk2. I guess what I really need to know is...it is worth it to start using Joomla 1.5 and JTk3 all the time and forget Joomla 1.13.x and JTk2 altogether? I am about to start another site that will be an ecommerce site. I am in the process of developing a very involved ministry site and started it in Joomla 1.13.x but wondering if I should scratch everything and do it in 1.5 Please give me your thoughts on this.....thank you! |

Hi fregia,
Does are good questions. Joomla 1.5 has some nice SEF improvements. a lot of other features. What Joomla 1.0.x has are many more extensions available to it. This doesn't mean that Joomla 1.5 will have as many in the future. But currently the older version has more. as for e-commerce extensions its kind close there are some that work with Joomla 1.5. Joomla! Extensions Directory - Shopping Cart But it depends on what you're trying to do with an e-commerce store. Sometimes it's better not to integrate and use a separate system. |
