Default template kit se localhost problems

Hi, I just purchased your product.
I have winamp running on my PC, and am just beginning my first template.
When I go to preview my page in the browser i get:

Direct Access to this location is not allowed.

Can you please help me out here so I can get going.

Cheers,
Jody.

Hello Jody,

The New Joomla Template kit SE 2.1 is not out in the public.
So I think your talking about the 2.0 version the 2.0 has no preview button.

How are you trying to view your template?
Direct Access errors are because this code is missing
// no direct access
defined( '_VALID_MOS' ) or die( 'Restricted access' );

Or you’re trying to view your template like

http://localhost/joomla_install/templates/yourtemplatefolder/index.php

Just point to http://localhost/joomla_install/

Make sure that the template you are working on is the default assigned via the template manager in the back end. "As per the video"

Cheers,

Default Cannot see Template

Hi there

I must be missing something.

I have JSAS setup on my PC and my hostsite is localhost:85.

I have several testsites all with Joomla installed .

following your video tutorials I am at the stage when I wish to make the default template the one I have produced from the tutorial but I cannot see it in Joomlas Template manager.

My site is joomlatemplatekit and has just the files created from the video tutorial.

What am I doing wrong?

Run the update Xml Template details wizard and name your template.
The xml file controls the name of the template via the template manager not the folder name.

Cheers,
Brian
