Default Modifying Joomla template

Hello Mr. Diaz,

Thanks for all your support and guidance with your valuable guidance i have created a template for my site but i have some doubts in it like:

I have modified my Template.CSS according to my requirement and add designed my index.php as well but without php code.So as far as i have learned from your kit i need to include php code for adding joomla modules in it but the problem is that the modules which are included in it are not according my requireement. So is there a way through which i can design my own modules or if i can customize it.

Pls. have a look on my basic web-layout as well may be it can help you understand my requirements and you can accordingly suggest some solution for it.(pls. find enclosed herewith file for template layout),As if now i have included main body module for creating Home , About Us link although its not functional. So pls. do look into the matter and reply as soon as possible.

Thanks & Regards
Pragya

Hello Pragya,
Well yes you can make your own modules but its way out of the scope of our product. You can also copy a module via the Joomla back-end and then modify it to your liking that way you have a safe copy of the original.

What is it that need the modules to do for your design?

Best Regards,

P.S I'm not working today I just stop by to do quick check so.

Hello Mr.Diaz,

Thanks for your immediate reply. I want to develop a site in joomla and for that i have one template for my home page and second template for my subsequent pages. But according design of my Tempalte i dont't need standard joomla modules like BANNER, NEWSFLASH, RSS FEED and all. I know how to implement templates.

What i have learned so far about joomla and joomla templates is that i can have no of templates in joomla and i need to apply that templates on my module say for instance i have develop one template for my home page and in that page i have some Links ( how would i develop those links ) as i can't find any option in joomla which allows to add LINK MODULE.
On my first page which is my home page i have 8 links (other than top menu links)but it doesn't appear similar to any of available modules of joomla.

You may find that i have 8 main links :Getting started and all other than i have Articles and white paper section ( similar to that Article Module) other than i have a section for Diary Dates. So you may pls. suggest how can i develop such module or if there is an existing module which one is that.

PLs. do help me and provide your suggestion regarding it. I also have included a page layout for your reference so pls. have a look on it. I really-really hope you will provide some solution for it.

Thanks & Regards
Pragya

Hello nitin.dhawan,

You don't need a custom module for this at all.
I'll try to keep this short.
Modules in Joomla can be turned on or off via the the Joomla back-end module manager. The module on & off settings are depended on the menu system.
As you can see via the module manager. So for sections of your site that you would not like to see a module just assign it to the sections that you like to see it in.

Now the links part you can make as many menus as you like in Joomla you copy or make total new ones but menus also need module positions to be displayed so all you have to do is make special menus for each section that you need and make sure that you give it a module position that is not used be another module.

also you can call any module position from the content of Joomla by adding mambot tags {mosloadposition user1} etc..

Cheers,
Brian
