Default Problem finding zones in tutorial

Brian

First hope this is the right place for the thread.

Newbie to Joomla - Havent used DW for a couple of years - havent cut code for a long time - oldtimer still remembering punch cards papertape and big blue... current environment is Vista/DW 8/ local webserver joomla is the only thing in htdocs

Bought Template SE 2.1

Great component, loved the video tutorial - doing it by section then thru DW just to reinforce my understanding, and excellent background.

Got to the What is a Template and you have opened index.php in the tutorial your index.php has zones left/right/body/header/footer, if I look at my index.php I have nothing between <body> and </body>

Just created joomla104 in case I screwed up but its empty too...
am I missing something? or don't have latest version?

thanks

george

I'm answer you via the Support system.
You need to design your own layout George.

The extension does not make the layout for you it gives you the freedom to design any layout you like.

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks Brian.

I will layout the tables just like you have hopefully.

I'm easy to confuse and I can imagine it is very difficult to get the video tutorial exactly right, so when you opened up the index.php in the video and immediately there it was, you had obviously prepared the tables in advance to explain the concepts of the zones you can have whereas I assumed, wrongly, that when you created Joomla101,2 and 3 - the body contained these already...

and I'm the slow old kind of guy who likes to ensure everything is exactly right before I can move on... I've done it before - not understood - made a mistake early on - moved on then wondered later why something wasnt working correctly.... best to get the fundamentals clear.

THAT is why you said its no different to 'normal' html... now I get it.
