I am working through a revamp of a customer's site and need to figure out the easiest way forward. At present I have resorted to using 5 templates to achieve what I now think, could be done with one "smart" template. The customer's site is a Community based Art Centre and site is www.uxbridge.org.nz - Home.
What I want to do is achieve the same result whereby when you click on main navigation menu you see only the resulting pages related to that section. i.e. "About Us" link would only bring up the "About Us" menu on the left, and "Our Classes" link will only display "Our Classes" menu on the resulting page. Have installed ExtendMenu module which is supposed to do Split Menus but unsure of best way to do this (documentation is sketchy). Also noted that Brian's Dreamweaver Module has conditional modules but having never used them before in a Joomla template unsure of "best" way to make a template that will allow me to have results like you currently see on customer's site. All help in this matter would be appreciated ![]() Thanks Tom |

Hello Tom,
In short what you’re asking for is not as hard as you may think. It just takes a little working knowledge of Joomla menu and module system. The key here is menu module > each module has an assignment parameter. If look at the main menu module by default you see that you can assign it to all other menus one by one. So what you need to do is create menus for each section about us etc. via the menu manger. This in turn will make a module for that menu. Then assign each menu to show in its section only. I know that it’s little crazy to get at first but just look around. |
