Does the joomla template kit work with Joomla 1.5?

I need to learn joomla templates quickly and it looks like the kit would definitely save me time if it works with joomla 1.5.

Thanks!

Can anyone direct me to good websites (free or paid) or books that give in-depth instructions on how to build Joomla 1.5 templates? I have looked at a number of websites that discuss a simple modification of 1 feature of an existing template but I need something that is more in-depth. I need to learn to build templates very quickly. Thanks!

Our current 2.1 works with Joomla 1.1.13 AND Joomla 1.5.
The templates made with JTK 2.1 need to be legacy mode in other to work with J 1.5. The new version of the Joomla Template Kit 3.0 will only support 3.0 and Up.

Please note: everybody in a rush for J1.5 templates it still RC2 not gold code. There are bugs and test that need to be run it takes time plus for older Joomla sites with third party Components/ extensions it will take time for other third party developers to make upgrade paths 1.5.

In closing I have been working on the new Kit it will be out some time soon.

Well, I downloaded the 1.5 AND watched your video. However, when I make the default the template that I have made in dreamweaver i receive this message:

Direct Access to this location is not allowed.

I had to do everything! I had no localhost and installed XAMPP before I could even begin. So, I think it's just me that goofed somewheres. I think I'll just download the older version and install it cause I absolutely hate bugs! lol

Hi Artress,

I was taking some time off.
You can use the 2.1 version in Joomla 1.5 but in legacy mode.
The New version 3.0 will support Joomla 1.5 fully.

Please understand that nightly builds of Joomla 1.5 don't aways work.
It very close to done but changes happen that break the system from time time.

I can tell you that the Joomla Template kit 3.0 is coming along great it will be a enjoy to work with or so I'm hopping you all think so. When you get a crack at it soon.

Cheers,
Brian
