Default Front End Editor Problems

I like the product.

One problem I am having is that JCE and Tiny editors do not work properly on the frontend when I use my own template. They work fine in the backend, and when I use a commercial template, they also work fine.

What am I missing?

What I get is an editor that is not WYSWG, but is html only.

This is quite frustrating. I am sure it is an easy fix.

Hi daneke,

This is a common problem in templates with odd non white backgrounds.

There are a few ways to fix this.
Most WYSIWYG editors have an option via the backend administration.

First you will need to make a Css style and upload it to your templates folder css folder.
You could just copy the one you have for your template and edit the dark parts to white
So you can see the editor like the background. Then name it whatever you like or editor.css

Login to the backend
Go to Mambot/Site Mambots
Open TinyMCE WYSIWYG Editor click on the name or use the check box then up top click "Edit"
On the right you will see a section called "Parameters".
Then look for parameter named "Custom CSS Classes"
Enter the FULL URL to your editor.css file into the "Custom CSS Classes" text box.
http://www.yoururl.com/templates/you...css/editor.css

save setting.

That should do it for you.

I am afraid that is not the problem. I have already done this for the various editors, and I still get html only. It is not that I cannot see the text, it is that it shows only the html code and not the WSYWG. As I said, it works fine in the backend, but not the frontend, and I have tried this with clean loads of Joomla also.

Very confusing.

If you want, you can login to my site at Daneke Services - Home and use username publisher and password publisher to see the problem?

Jim

It could be a few issues.

1. Your web server’s permissions on the editor’s folders.
2. Your install some how got corrupted on upload.
3. it’s a setting issue in editor.
4. Mambo Bot Published twice it does not know which editor to use.

This is out side the scope of our support but I’ll try to give you a hand.
If I was you I would uninstall both editors and only install one.
Then test it again.

From looking at your site it also looks like the content com_component is having a
permission issue there’s no home page content at all.
Make sure that the folders have 755 permissions try that on the com_component folder.

If that does not work then
I would try to over write the main Joomla files with new copy this will not break anything.
Just don't upload the install folder that would be a security issue.

Your issue is not the template it’s something in the configuration of your Joomla install
and or add-ons.

I hope that one if these options help you.

Cheers,
Brian
