Default Can you create complex theme with this kit?

Can you create complex theme with this kit?

like..
If I get theme from RocketTheme or one of those other online places...

Will I able to modify any part of that theme with your DM Kit?

Or... Create themes as complex as some people or places selling them.

Hello Kdar,

Your question is a very open one.
The Joomla Template kit can work with any Template that you can make in Dreamweaver.
That said it’s not going to turn you into a master of CSS, PHP, JavaScript etc.

Rocket Theme templates have a style system that Andy A.k.a “Rhuk” uses.
We have ours which breaks down the Joomla styles into sections and parts.

You can mix and match both if you like without an issue. That being said if you’re not a CSS expert you’re going to have an issue editing Rocket Theme templates. Andy is a very good designer no tool will give that skill only a lot of reading and trial and error.

As for the tricks to change the background color or width of your templates.
This is not as hard as people think in fact you have most of this code in the Dreamweaver snippets panel.
And if you need a little more help go to Dynamic Drive DHTML(dynamic html) & JavaScript code library

1.Dynamic Drive DHTML Scripts- Style Sheet Switcher (v1.1)
2.Dynamic Drive DHTML Scripts- Document Text Sizer
3.Dynamic Drive DHTML Scripts- Random Content Colors script

These guys have been doing this for years old is new again.
Here you can get the code and the how to’s to GIT-R-Done
Larry The Cable Guy.

It’s like this Ajax Web2.0 “Me To” once call DHTML worked in IE4.
Cheers,
Brian

hmm.. But can you tell if with this kit..

Like.. can I chose what kind of menu images to use?
or the layout of menus.. or layout of main block.. like news and such.

Can I go into such details? Using this kit?

Or this I will able to do only in php and css

Or is this tool more for a quick start.. With which later I have to do changes in CSS and PHP?

Kdar

What the Joomla Template Kit is and is not.

Joomla Template kit 2.0 will with no doubt after watching videos for the extension
give you a very good under standing of the workings of a Joomla Template System.
It will give you a starting point’s a reference to which lines of code effect which parts of Joomla.

The extension itself
1. Makes the base files needed to make Joomla Templates.
2. Code buttons needed to add Joomla template code.
3. Wizards to make updating and adding images and flash easy.
4. Wizard Packaging the templates files
5. Code to picture reference of the style sheet code and areas affected in Joomla
6. Plus a lot to templates to start with.

The list goes on…

What the Joomla Template kit will not do.
Teach you how to use Dreamweaver
Teach you how to manage Joomla
Teach CSS 101 code
Teach you JavaScript and other related coding etc.
It will not make you a web design guru in one click.

Bottom line the Joomla Template kit does everything it states.
It's fast and easy but it’s a tool for one job not sixty.

Also to answer your question about the Menu system coverage?
I cover the basic code for menu system that comes out of the box
with Joomla. Not Menu Add-ons which would take another hour plus of video.

There is a ton of third party menu extensions free and commercial for Joomla
From what I can tell Kdar you like the sucker fish menu system that comes
With Andy’s template you could easily add this to a template made by the Joomla template kit.

I have no Idea if that’s cool with Andy’s license use to use the menu system on more than one template
but it would work with our Kit.

Well Kbar I have to run I have party to go to.
Cheers and Happy New Year,

Brian

I am hoping you did purchase this. It has allowed me to focus on DESIGN and not worry about all the php coding for Joomla. Just make your layout and place the modules where you want them to go.

Then in Joomla go to the site modules and load them in the places you laid out.

It has made my life extreamly easy. I have taken many templates, Joomla, Mambo, and htmls and modified them with Dreamweaver and this extension.
Worth 100 bucks!
