Default The Joomla Template Kit 3 News

Hello all Joomla.org has put out the Joomla 1.5 CMS release candidate 1.

What does this mean? A release candidate is a piece of software almost ready for primetime. There could be a second or third release candidate till the gold code.
What does this mean for the Joomla Template kit 3.0? Well I have been working on it and seeing changes happening to The Joomla CMS Core and Template system day after day.
The Joomla Developers have changed a number of things to the system after the first beta.

For example a new Ajax module position naming system was added to the Joomla 1.5 Rc1 core.
Which uses any module position name assigned to it just not the old stander names like left, user* etc..
So if the module creator added a module position name like “Brian” as a module position in the module code and packaging.
This would now be the default module position name call for that module that the template would have to call to render it.
Now this does not mean that you can’t assign the module another position it just adds none standard names to the pot.

So what does this mean for the Joomla Template kit 3.0?
Well another redesign because our extension counted on the set default module position names.

It is a set back because it takes time to factor any other changes these changes have on our extension flow and logic.
The life of a designer programmer any way just thought that I’d post some information on the progress of the extension.

All in all the Joomla Rc1 is looking good and I look forward to the challenges that it brings for me to solve for you.

I don’t have a hard date for The Joomla Template Kit 3.0 extension release because there are a lot of factors to cover.

What I can tell you is that most likely the extension will only support Dreamweaver 8 above on PC or Mac.

On the case truly yours,
Brian Diaz
