Hello All,
Here is where we stand with the Joomla Template Kit extension for The Joomla 1.5 Beta. I'm happy to say that we are about 60 percent done with the extension. We are looking to add a few more features that will most likely are going to take us pass the release date of the 12 of October date set for the Beta release of Joomla! 1.5. Now in the past we had delays but we will make it worth the wait like in the wait from 1.0 to 2.0 of JTK was worth the Wait. I think that 2.5 version will be as well. Please note that Joomla 1.5 is a totally new system from the ground up and so is our Joomla Template Kit 2.5. The Joomla 1.5 new template system is based off the Pat Template system and for most of you it's a new world working with Pat Template system / Jtemplate system. In the release of Joomla Template Kit 2.5 Beta we will take you thru the basic's of the New Joomla template system. The new Joomla Template system has a lot of power and its not that hard to learn for basic templating at all. The older Joomla Template module calls would look like this. <?php mosLoadModules('left',-1); ?> The same call in the new system would look like this <jdoc:include type="modules" name="left" style="1"/> in Jtemplate system 1.5. Which is very close to the older way of doing module calls. Best of all the Joomla Core Dev team has made most the older Module calls backwards compatible with Joomla 1.0.X versions. The power is in the new Jtemplate system is in calling other templates and other sub templates based on conditions and or parameters. We will get more into it later on in the how to's for Joomla Template Kit 2.5. This post is to let you know that we are working hard and are on the case. Part of the delay is that Joomla 1.5 is still a alpha/beta product and the Joomla core dev team is still updating Joomla 1.5 build nightly and daily. We at Media 65 don’t want you to have to study twice so we are trying to set a good foundation for you to start from in a timely fashion. Also I'm also planning on publishing a video and book on the new Joomla 1.5 system in about six months or less. This Book and Video will take a much different approach to Joomla then a lot of the books on the market. I would like to take the time to thank the Joomla! community and it's hard Working Dev team for making a very nice product. Truly yours, Brian Diaz Media 65 Last edited by admin; 10-16-2006 at 11:15 AM. |
